Frequently Asked Questions

  • Best Time of Day for Your Session

For outdoor sessions, natural light is everything—and certain times of day provide the most flattering, soft, golden light (and the happiest kids!).
    Here’s what I typically recommend:

Spring & Summer: Before 9:00 AM or after 5:00 PM

Fall & Winter: Before 10:00 AM or after 4:00 PM

These windows help us avoid harsh midday sun and keep things cool and comfortable, especially for younger kids.
That said, I’m always open to scheduling outside these suggested times if needed! Just keep in mind that we may need to get creative with lighting and positioning, and it’s usually easier for little ones when they’re not being asked to stand in very specific spots for the sake of the sun.

Let’s work together to find the best time that fits both your family’s rhythm and the light we need for great photos.

  • What to Wear for Portraits

The key to great family photos isn’t matching—it’s coordinating. Think of your outfits as a cohesive group rather than identical uniforms. Aim for complementary colors, subtle patterns, and textures that work well together.

Here are a few tips to help you look and feel your best:

Avoid pure white tops – they can wash out skin tones and limit contrast in your images. Soft off-whites, creams, or light neutrals photograph much better.

Skip bright neons and solid oranges – they can reflect onto skin and dominate the frame. Instead, lean into timeless neutrals like soft grays, taupe, beige, cream, dusty blue, sage green, or muted earth tones.

Layers and textures (like knit sweaters, linen, or denim) add depth and interest to your photos.

Steer clear of logos and busy graphics – they distract from the connection between you and your loved ones.

Dress for comfort and confidence. If you feel great in what you’re wearing, it shows—and that makes all the difference.

  • When Will I Receive My Photos?

Portraits sessions (family, senior, maternity, engagement): You can expect to receive your fully edited gallery within 2 to 3 weeks of your session. During slower seasons, I may deliver even faster—but I always aim to balance speed with the care and quality your images deserve.

Weddings: You can expect to receive your fully edited gallery within 2 to 3 months of your big day. Wedding days generate thousands of images, and I carefully sort through every one to select the very best moments to edit and deliver. This process takes time, and I want each image to reflect the story of your day with care, consistency, and artistry.

That said, I know how hard it is to wait—so I always aim to deliver a few sneak peeks within the first week to give you a glimpse of the magic while your full gallery is being finalized.

  • Can I request rush delivery for my photos?

Yes! If you need your photos faster than the standard turnaround time, I offer rush delivery for both portrait sessions and weddings.

Portrait sessions (family, senior, maternity, engagement): Rush delivery is available within 48 hours for an additional $150.

Weddings: Rush delivery is available within 2 weeks for an additional $500.

Let me know at the time of booking—or as soon as possible after your session—if you’d like to add a rush option, and I’ll do my best to accommodate based on availability.

  • How many photos will I receive in my gallery?

Portrait sessions (family, maternity, senior, engagement): A typical 45-minute session includes 50 to 100 fully edited images. Unlike some photographers, I don’t charge extra for the full gallery—you’ll receive all the best photos I capture, curated and edited with care. If your session runs longer than 45 minutes, you may receive more; for shorter sessions, slightly fewer. Either way, I always aim to deliver as many quality images as possible.

Weddings: I typically deliver a minimum of 600 edited images for a 6-hour day. That includes candid moments, getting ready, detailed shots, and all the meaningful moments I’m there to witness during your day. I carefully cull and edit the very best images to tell your story—always prioritizing quality over quantity.

  • How You’ll Receive Your Photos

Once your images are edited and ready, you’ll receive a private online gallery where you can view, download, and share your high-resolution photos with ease.a
    Your gallery includes:

Unlimited downloads of all final images

Full print rights, so you can print and share your photos however you’d like

Please note: Galleries remain active for 3 months, so be sure to download your images during that time. If your gallery expires and needs to be reactivated, there’s a $50 unarchiving fee, as it takes time and resources to retrieve and rehost your files.

Prefer your photos on a USB drive? I can mail a USB to your home for an additional $50.

  • What happens if it rains (or bad weather)?

I always keep a close eye on the forecast and will coordinate with you in advance if the weather looks questionable. If it’s clear that conditions won’t be ideal for photos, I’m happy to reschedule—no problem at all. I’m flexible and totally understand that great photos depend on great light and a comfortable environment. As long as we can find a new date that works for both of us, we’ll make it happen!

  • Can I bring pets or extended family to the session?

Absolutely! I’m a dog owner myself (black lab and golden retriever), so I completely understand how much pets are part of the family. I love incorporating them into sessions—whether it’s a quick cameo or they’re part of the full shoot.

That said, whether pets can join depends on the location’s pet policy, so we’ll just need to make sure the spot you choose allows animals. If you’re not sure where to shoot, I’m happy to recommend pet-friendly locations that photograph beautifully.

As for extended family, I’m also happy to include grandparents, cousins, or whoever’s important to you—just let me know ahead of time so I can plan the session flow and timing accordingly.
